8k steps to avoid exercise resistance

Did you know that NOT walking at least 8k steps per day causes exercise resistance?

In essence, exercise resistance is the bodies inability to oxidize fat when we do recreational exercise and it is suspected that a sedentary lifestyle is the cause.

In other words, if we don’t move throughout the day, when we do go on a hike or go to the gym, our bodies do not utilize the fat stores.

Other variables like heart rate reduction, blood lactate levels and relative perceived exertion (how hard an exercise feels) are also markedly different between people who move throughout the day versus those who do not.

 

Think of people who are office/desk workers, truck drivers, or people who travel a lot for work and sit a majority of the day.

This will help your body burn fat when you do go to do recreational exercise like a workout at the gym, a hike in the woods or long bike ride.
